The car alarm went off all night and no one addressed it. Surely everyone was pissed for the lack of sleep they got that night. But why didn’t the owner come out to disconnect it? It wasn’t until the next morning, when awoken by the same horrendous sound did she get to thinking in all her paranoia that something seemed pretty off about the whole situation. The neighborhood was accustomed to the absurdities of the honk and car alarm. So for one to go off all through the night surely was chalked up to just being a fluke. Perhaps a drunkard deep asleep in his apartment oblivious to the fact that everyone else around him was dealing with this noise. But something within in her made her now feel a bit uneasy. Maybe it was just the lack of deep sleep, but something was off. Her mind wandered as it usually does, and led her to think of the person desperately trying to get a neighborhood accustomed to this noise to just consider it for once in their goddamn busy lives. Address it and help them get out of the trunk. It would be easy enough to just call the cops and report it. Someone should be pissed enough to do that. All that person had to do was keep triggering the alarm by moving every time it was shut off. A desperate cry for help. A cry that all were to accustomed too, enough to sleep through. After an entire night of going off the alarm is no longer sounding. Maybe it was just a faulty wire.
