Nothing she does is for herself. Everything he does is for himself. Neither of them can see, not clearly at least, I mean they have a sense and a feeling. The lack of balance in their actions remind those around them regularly. The givers, the takers, and the bystanders. Two way mirrors. Double dips when no one is looking. Nose picking while driving because nobody can see, right? Wearing the same pants all week, all month, and maybe longer without washing them. Drinking from the carton, be it milk or orange juice. All along the way they stand and watch, just standing, just watching. The news, the church, the class, the tv, the radio, the stand and the watch. He once raised his hand to ask a question. Just moments before he had been in a discussion about the topic at hand and wondered why things hadn’t yet changed. The conviction in their words seemed ill informed and had a shake. No one asks, because it’s been asked before. When the opportunity was given to ask, he asked. Apparently no one had ever asked. Things changed after that, but only a little, but mostly because no one had ever asked and they didn’t really know how to deal with the question other than to just flex a little bit. Soon they would all forget. He would leave, most would stay, few would leave to go somewhere “better” or even “different” for that matter. Their too tired when they get home to want to do what they want to do so they opt out. Bad practice, it lead to bad mattress, and leads to bad sleep, which leads to the wrong side of the bed, and keeps them on the wrong side of the head. Cashing in wants for a subscription to would have, should have, could have. Be careful what you wait for.
