As a way to encourage critical thinking about how they wanted to present their final projects, students were taken to The Perch, a DIY publishing apartment, founded by Chicago artist Matt Austin.  There students were presented published pieces and hand-made books, done at The Perch, as an example of how a body of work could be considered.  There Matt talked with the students about passions, hurdles, and haters as a way to have them think about the things they wish they could be doing and what allows them to achieve their goals as well as what prevents them from achieving their goals.
